The Nigerian football news scene is abuzz with excitement over the reports of another Golden Eaglets star who could be making a move to Europe this summer. Abubakar Abdullahi is the latest in line.
Earlier in the week, news broke about Yahaya Lawali being courted by Barcelona and Sevilla, as well as clubs in France and Belgium.
Lawali was the best player from Nduka Ugbade's team but his performances were not enough to help the U-17 Nigeria national football team seal a ticket to the U-17 AFCON 2024 tournament semi finals and inadvertently, the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
Many were afraid of the talents in the squad missing out on global opportunities but those fears now look to be allayed as more of the bright talents are getting noticed.
The latest is Abubakar Abdullahi, who is reportedly close to joining Super Eagles fullback Zaidu Sanusi at FC Porto.

Like Sanusi who he is about to join in Portugal, Abubakar is a product of Jega United in Kebbi State, Nigeria. The young forward scored two goals in for games for the Golden Eaglets as they were eliminated by Burkina Faso at the quarter finals after a hard-fought match.
An agreement is close to being reached according to the rumour mills and the young Super Eagles hopeful will link up with his older colleague, who will also serve as his mentor ahead of his future debut for the senior side of the Nigeria national football team.
