Willian Reveals His Reaction When Mourinho Asked Him To Join Spurs

Willian joined Arsenal from Chelsea on a free transfer after his contract expired but Jose Mourinho is a known fan and links to Tottenham were strong over the summer.

And the Brazilian has revealed he could only laugh to himself when queried on Spurs' interest in him.

The two worked together at Chelsea and he was his preferred winger – even forcing Juan Mata to leave.

However, a transfer did not materialise and instead, the 32-year-old joined the Gunners.

When the Daily Mail asked him if he had any contact with Mourinho over joining him at Tottenham, the veteran forward started chuckling.

“We are friends, you know,” he told them.

“He is doing a good job there. Inside the pitch I do my job and he does his. But outside the pitch we are friends.

“I don't think that should be a problem, to text and say ‘good luck' or something. I think until now he is the best manager I have had. As everyone said, the ‘Special One’.”
