Arsenal will sign Ben White from Brighton on a four-year contract, with the versatile defender undergoing a medical this week.
And the Gunners will reportedly pay the £50million to Brighton for the 23-year-old in three instalments.
The £50m fee will be the most Arsenal have ever spent on a defender and their third-most expensive signing of all time after Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Speaking on Reach PLC's Transfer Window podcast, Duncan Castles has given a breakdown of the payment structure Arsenal will commit themselves to as well as details of the salary Ben White will earn at the Emirates.
“The fee is a guaranteed £50m, which is the second-highest transfer fee ever exchanged for an English central defender,” he said.
“£30m of that will be paid within one calendar year to Brighton and then two more payments of £10m in the following seasons.
“There is over £5m of performance-related variables, dependent on personal achievements for Ben White at international level and club achievements by Arsenal.
“So basically whether they win major trophies during his time at the club.

“He will sign a four-year contract at Arsenal, assuming he passes the medical, and his salary will be increased to around £6m a year. So a very substantial investment.”
