Tottenham Hotspur are doing everything they can to re-sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid in a sensational deadline-day deal, that’s according to The Times.
The Welshman has frequently been tipped to leave the LaLiga club in the past couple of years but interest in Bale from several clubs has always come to nothing.
Now, however, Spurs boss José Mourinho reportedly wants to take the 30-year-old back to North London as he bids to not only steer the side back up the Premier League table but also enjoy a run through the Champions League knockout stages.
Harry Kane's long-term injury absence is said to have been in a major factor in the North London club’s eagerness to sign Bale
GoalBall understand Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, have flown to Spain for talks with Madrid chief Florentino Pérez.
Having already brought in Steven Bergwijn from PSV, however, Levy is reportedly unwilling to spend big on Bale, and sources say a permanent deal is unlikely to be done in the short time left before the window shuts.
The only possibility appears to be a loan, but neither Bale nor Real Madrid are enthusiastic about such a plan.
