Tottenham are close to finalising the capture of Atalanta defender Cristian Romero, according to reports.
Spurs are currently facing the prospect of a long and bitter fight to keep hold of wantaway striker Harry Kane, who failed to report to their training ground on Monday morning.
The report claims that Spurs are ‘confident' of the move being rubber-stamped in the near future, with a transfer fee in the region of £42.7m having been agreed with the Serie A heavyweights and parent club Juventus.
The deal is said to be in its final stages, with Romero eager to make the switch to north London after negotiating personal terms.
He will reportedly be allowed to join the north London outfit as soon as Atalanta's search for a replacement enters an advanced stage.
