Ahead of Bayer Leverkusen's clash against Qarabag FK in the Europa League, Victor Boniface was named in the starting line-up by coach Xabi Alonso.

The Nigerian striker featured in the reverse fixture, where he scored a goal and created an assist as Bayer Leverkusen walloped Qarabag FK 5-1.

Bayer Leverkusen are seeking a win that could ease them into the knockout rounds of the Europa League.

Qarabag will seek its pound of flesh after their embarrassing loss, but that would mean caging a host of players, including Victor Boniface.

Victor Boniface has been in fine form this season and will hope to score against the Slovenian side.

Xabi Alonso has named a strong side against Qarabag, as the Spaniard goes for broke in a tie that could see them seal qualification.

The goals and creativity of Victor Boniface have helped Die Werkself to their current position.

They are unbeaten in both the Bundesliga, where Victor Boniface has scored seven goals and the Europa League.

The Bundesliga side will hope to continue from last weekend, where they secured a hard-fought 3-2 away win at Hoffenheim.

The Nigerian striker did not score in that game but created two assists to maintain their stranglehold of the top of the Bundesliga.

Victor Boniface has seen a few players leapfrog him in the Bundesliga goals chart.

He was third on the chart with seven goals but has seen Leroy Sané (Bayern Munich), Loïs Openda (RB Leipzig) and Jonas Wind (VfL Wolfsburg) leapfrog him on the table.

The Nigerian striker, who is wanted by several clubs, last scored a Bundesliga goal in the 3-0 defeat of FC Cologne.

Can the Super Eagles forward strike again?

Qarabag FK might be stubborn at home, but Boniface should add to his two Europa League goals.
