Edinson Cavani has reportedly been ‘offered’ to Barcelona as Cristiano Ronaldo could wear the number seven shirt.
Ronaldo’s transfer has been seen as a huge boost for the club, both on and off the pitch and rightly so.
However, there are other knock-on effects of the deal which have not been discussed.
Firstly, on the field, Ronaldo is likely to play in the main striker role as his style of play has certainly changed since he left Man United.
This may not be the best of news for United’s marksmen Cavani who could see his place in the team lost, especially as a regular starter.
However, Cavani also wears the famous number seven shirt.
According to Spanish news outlet El Mundo Deportivo, United have made a formal application to the Premier League to swap Cavani’s number and allow Ronaldo to wear the number seven jersey.
Today could see the situation come to a boiling point, as reports in Spain suggest the Colombian has been ‘offered’ to Barcelona and a possible transfer could now be on the cards.
It remains to be seen the possibility of these.
