Jurgen Klopp’s long-time target may just be on his way to another Premier League side, dealing Liverpool a major transfer blow.
That one player Klopp had been targeting to solve his problems and bring more competition to his side was Adama Traore.
Klopp has long been keen on the Spanish winger, but it appears that Leeds United have made the first move in the race to sign him.
According to transfer guru Duncan Castles, Leeds have submitted a club-record £30million bid for the 25-year-old.
While it is stated that the Whites have made Traore one of their top targets, the player himself is said to see Leeds as a sideways move and will only join a club in the Champions League.
“They [Leeds] were prepared to pay an initial £30m for Adama, who is a player that is well known to Leeds' director of football Victor Orta,” he told the Transfer Window Podcast.
“My guidance is that Adama is not interested in moving there and sees himself at, rather than making a sideways move in the Premier League, he wants to move up to a club with Champions League status.
“He's under contract until 2023 and as we've been stating on the Transfer Window Podcast, he has effectively been placed on the market by Wolves.

“Wolves were interested in this offer, so I think we get a sense of how much they would be prepared to sell the player for.”
