Austin ‘Jay Jay' Okocha
Austin ‘Jay-Jay' Okocha is perhaps the most enigmatic football player ever to don the Super Eagles jersey. The mercurial number ten was as slippery on the pitch as he was off it.
Ferreting out his best friends was as arduous as stopping him from meandering through a tight defence.
Okocha, who won Olympic gold with Nigeria in 1996 and the African Cup of Nations in 1994 with the Super Eagles, named Ronaldinho one of his best buddies. They were together at Paris Saint Germain before he left for Bolton Wanderers.
He also named Daniel Amokachi and Kanu Nwankwo as two players he was close to within the Super Eagles.
Victor Osimhen
Victor Osimhen maintains a close bond with his childhood friends but also shares a good relationship with several Super Eagles players. Loyalty seems to be his motto, as his bond seems tighter with players he has known from way back.
Samuel Chukwueze is his best buddy in the Super Eagles. They are so close that he wanted the Villarreal striker to join him at Napoli, but AC Milan beat the Neapolitans to his signature.
Osimhen and Chukwueze are always seen together in the national team and on vacation.
Wilfred Ndidi
Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is a close friend of Kelechi Iheanacho. One would say that because Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho play for Leicester City would be the reason for being best buddies. However, the former Nath Academy product claims he and Iheanacho have known each other for a long time, as their friendship dates back to their academy days. They also both played for the Golden Eaglets.
Alex Iwobi
Alex Iwobi was to follow in the footsteps of his uncle Jay-Jay Okocha, but it didn’t work out that way.
Iwobi shares a close bond with Chuba Akpom and Ola Aina. The two players are people he grew up with in London. Iwobi said that he has known Akpom since he was three. For Ola Aina, he revealed that they went to the same school and lived on the same street.
Iwobi also revealed that he is very close with Super Eagles star Kelechi Iheanacho. According to the Everton star, Iheanacho is entertaining and makes people laugh.
Taiwo Awoniyi
Taiwo Awoniyi has named Kelechi Iheanacho his best buddy in the Super Eagles. The duo have been friends since their days with the National Under-17 team, where they conquered the world in 2013.
Awoniyi revealed that they have been close since their Under-17 days.
